What is a Lesson Plan?
Simply, lesson plan is a subject teacher’s plan prepared to teach single lesson. Moreover, it is defined as the daily decisions a teacher makes for successful teaching of a lesson. it is prepared by teacher before entering into the classroom. It describes teaching and learning activities that take place in or out of the classroom for teaching particular lesson. it is a kind of roadmap for teacher. Below are some sample English lesson plans for teachers.
Plans are important for the successful completion of any task. Plans in Teaching and learning (education) process are made in different levels. For example; government level plans, curriculum designing and dissemination plans, implementation plans, school level plans, subject wise plans, unit plan, lesson plan etc. A subject teacher is responsible to implement the curriculum into the practice. He/she has to make plans and strategies considering all other plans in order to achieve the goals of curriculum. Lesson plans are prepared by the subject teachers for successful and effective management of time and resources in the classroom. It is also important for attaining certain objectives.
As a teacher, I have been preparing lesson plans since a long time. I know well about its significance in teaching learning activities. I prepared the aforementioned lesson plans and devised them into my classroom. I enjoyed and felt motivated throughout the process. Whatever I plan, I had to implement in the classroom. In that process I used ICTs and other materials which I rarely used in my career. I found little difficult to manage time to reach every student for individual support, though I found all my classes effective.
Although preparing daily lesson plan is a tedious task; consumes much time at home and hampers some quality time with family and friends, the hard work eventually pays off. I could implement all above mentioned plans successfully in my classroom. They helped me with time management, achieving objectives of the curriculum, use of teaching materials, developed self-confidence, could make impact on students and fellow teachers.
Here are four sample English lesson plans.
