The [Rastriya Swotantra Party] National Independent Party’s Member of Parliament, Sobita Gautam, has won the “Young World Politician of the Year” award.
For the award, Sobita was nominated along with Chilean Minister for Women and Gender Equality, Antonia Casamique, and 15 parliamentarians and mayors from various countries. The organization has decided to present the award to five individuals from the nomination list.
According to the organizers of the One Young World, the competition included Sobita Gautam, 27, from Canada, Ariel Kayaba from Chile, Ayor Makur Chot from Australia, Te Pania Moko and Samuel Cogolati from New Zealand and Belgium, respectively, as the winners.
In the history of Nepal, Sobita is the youngest Member of Parliament and co-founder of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party, and she was selected in the shortlist. Born in a village without electricity and educated in a government school lacking proper resources, Sobita’s speeches on social media have garnered significant attention, and she is recognized for her role in positively influencing youth in her community and country.
The organizers announced the decision to award this title to five individuals among the world’s top political leaders who are actively involved in empowering and developing youth.
The One Young World is a British organization established for youth leadership empowerment and development. The organization will be holding the One Young World Summit in Belfast, United Kingdom, from 2nd to 5th October.
The conference will be addressed by former Irish President Mary Robinson, Nobel laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus, and former Costa Rican Vice President Laura Chinchilla, among others.
