Rape Complaint Filed Against Sandeep Lamichhane
Rape complaint has been filed against cricketer Sandeep Lamochhane. A teenage girl has filed a police complaint against Nepali national cricket team captain Sandeep Lamichhane on charges of rape. On behalf of the victim, a complaint was filed against cricketer Lamichhane at the Kathmandu police complex on Tuesday.
Leading the Nepali team, Lamichhane left for the capital Nairobi on August 6 to play the Twenty20 international series against Kenya. The girl reported that Lamichhane raped her the night before. A top police source confirmed that a complaint has been filed against Lamichhane.
“A complaint has been registered against Lamichhane on behalf of the victim on the charge of extortion, the police has already started an investigation on the complaint and nothing can be mentioned about this matter now,” said a senior police officer.
However, none of the police officials agreed to speak formally saying that this matter is being investigated. The victim girl also mentioned in the complaint that she used to communicate with Lamichhane as a fan through snap chat and on the basis of that, she was going to visit Nagarkot on August 5.
It is mentioned in the complaint that after returning from Nagarkot that night, Lamichhane took her to a hotel in Tilganga area and raped her. Lamichhane is currently in the West Indies to play in the Caribbean Premier League.
He was on his way to play in the Caribbean Premier League after the Twenty20 international series with Kenya. He did not play the ODI series with Kenya.
Lamichhane, who became a global star by playing in franchise competitions like Indian Premier League and Big Bash League, has been the captain of the Nepali national team since January. He has been playing continuously for the Nepali team since 2016.
