Nuwakot, August 7, 2024 – An Air Dynasty helicopter carrying four Chinese nationals and a Nepali pilot crashed in the Suryachaur forest of Nuwakot district on Wednesday afternoon. All five occupants were killed in the accident.
The helicopter, which took off from Kathmandu at 1:54 PM en route to Syafrubesi in Rasuwa district, lost contact with air traffic control just three minutes after departure. Local authorities were alerted to the crash after spotting smoke rising from the forest.
Security personnel recovered five bodies from the crash site, including those of four Chinese nationals and the Nepali pilot. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and a team of experts has been deployed to the site.
This is the latest in a series of fatal aviation accidents in Nepal. A similar incident occurred at Tribhuvan International Airport just two weeks ago, claiming 18 lives. In May 2023, a Simrik Air helicopter crashed, resulting in one fatality, while a Manang Air helicopter crash in July 2023 killed six people, including five Mexican nationals. A previous Air Dynasty helicopter crash in Taplejung in 2019 claimed seven lives.
